Look Into It — 10/12/23
October 31, commemorates a highlight of the Protestant Reformation Period of The Church. Yet, regrettably, many Christians today are ignorant of what happened on that day, to say nothing about Church History, or even what the Church is. If you are a Christian, ask yourself, do you know what the Church is exactly? What is its purpose? And when was it started? Do you know the meaning of the phrase, Ecclesia Reformata, Semper Reformanda and its application that brought about the five Solas of the Reformation? Well, this post aims to answer these questions and more, by providing a crash course on the subject featuring talks from the late great Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen.
Dr. Bahnsen’s numerous lectures, compiled below, were previously released under the following titles: The Reformation, The Distinctives of the Reformed Faith, Reformation Sunday, Catholic-Protestant Debate, Sola Scriptura, Christ’s Church, Church Responsibilities, Church Membership, Church & Christian Living, and How To Choose/Leave A Church. Starting October 31, I intend to begin uploading most of these sermons with notes and enhanced audio quality to YouTube, as a separate channel to the current Greg L. Bahnsen Apologetics Channel. Be sure to look for it. And leading up to that momentous day of October and beyond, please share this essential and edifying information with your loved ones.
About the lecturer:
“Greg L. Bahnsen, (1948-1995), was an ordained minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and a full time Scholar in Residence for the Southern California Center for Christian Studies. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Southern California, specializing in the theory of knowledge. He previously received the B.A. (magna cum laude, philosophy) from Westmont College, and then simultaneously earned the M.Div. and Th.M. degrees from Westminster Theological Seminary. Dr. Bahnsen lectured to a broad range of evangelical Christian groups at many colleges and conferences. He was an experienced apologist and debater, a clear and cogent teacher of the Christian worldview who was devoted to training believers in understanding and applying the Christian faith to every area of life. He published numerous scholarly articles, a number of well-known books, and has over 1,500 recorded lectures and sermons. NOTE: While Dr. Bahnsen died on December 11th, 1995, his audio tapes and written materials were, and still remain, the foundation for Covenant Media Foundation’s ministry.” —CMF
